iVEC

Facilities

iVEC manages facilities across all of its partner institutions. These facilities host iVEC’s infrastructure and deliver iVEC’s expertise directly to members of its partner organisations and the wider scientific community. Although located at specific facilities, all iVEC infrastructure and expertise is accessible to staff at all iVEC partners.

The iVEC facilities are connected via a dedicated research network operated by iVEC. This maintains a high quality of service for applications such as moving large datasets or streaming of remotely rendered content.

The iVEC network is organised in a star topology with the hub located at the ARRC facility. Currently, the iVEC@UWA and iVEC@Murdoch Facilities and Curtin University are connected at 10 Gbps whilst Edith Cowan University is connected at 1 Gbps. The network also links the nodes to AARNet at 10 Gbps and subsequently the eastern coast of Australia and overseas
